SESSION TOOL CONTROL FUNCTIONS
FULL SCREEN- Always use EMDR on the widest screen setting possible. Whenever possible use the EMDR Session Tool in full screen mode.
SPEED-The faster the speed is set, the more quickly the light object will move and also the more quickly the tones will go from ear to ear. As users get more comfortable using EMDR, it is suggested that they experiment with the speed setting to see what is most effective. Note that the faster the speed is set, the more intense the EMDR session will become. Try bumping up the speed more and more when you feel stuck or are having an especially difficult addictive urge. You may push yourself during your session, but if the experience becomes too intense, decrease the speed (and volume) as needed.
VOLUME-Having the volume louder during your session will make for a more intense EMDR experience. Many EMDR users will adjust the volume up and down frequently over the course of their session to increase or decrease the intensity as needed.
SOUND-Choose the sound you prefer to hear during your session. As you become more experienced with EMDR, experiment with different sound tones to see how they change the EMDR experience.
SIZE-This setting will increase or decrease the size of the moving visual object during your session. Choose a size you are most comfortable with-this setting is only a matter of personal preference.
SHAPE-This setting will change the shape of the visual object. Choose the shape you most prefer.
COLOR-Choose the color you prefer for the visual stimulus. Different colors will not yield different results; the color is simply a matter of personal preference.
PATTERN- One of the Virtual EMDR for Addiction Session Tools features a pattern control allowing you to choose between horizontal, diagonal, and figure eight visual motion. This feature has been designed to help in the event of an especially difficult or "stuck" addictive urge. If you find that the standard horizontal motion is not giving you the desired relief, go ahead and experiment with the other settings to see if it helps you to break through and feel better.
EASE-This setting adjusts the way that the moving visual object crosses your screen. This is only a matter of personal preference and does not affect the results of your EMDR session.
MOTION BLUR- Like the Ease function, the motion blur setting only effects the look of the moving visual object. This is left to user preference.
TEXTURE- This setting turns on and off the background texture design. This is only a matter of user preference.
